Featured Artist Manatsu Aminaga
Manatsu Aminaga was born and raised in Japan. She received a scholarship for the Peridance Center Certificate Program in 2021. Manatsu joined FJK Dance in 2023 andhas performed with them several times since then. She made her musical debut in “IceQueen” with the 92nd Street Y under the direction of Megan Doyle. Currently, Manatsuappears in I Enjoy Being A Girl, a video directed and choreographed by Preston Mui on Playbill, which celebrates the 65th anniversary of Flower Drum Song and Pat Suzuki who made the song such a huge hit.
Meet the Team

Dancer
Fuka Kojima
Fuka Kojima (she/her) is a dancer and artist who was born and raised in Japan. After beginning her dance training at Komatsu Ballet Studio, she received additional training in ballet, Horton technique, hip hop, and tap at Hinton Battle’s Hinton Ballet Dance Academy. During her time in Japan she also took lessons in singing, Japanese cultural dance, theater play, theater writing, and stage technology. Fuka is currently in her 2nd year as a student at The Ailey School Certificate Program. She recently performed “Festa Barroca,” choreographed by Alvin Ailey, alongside the Ailey company at New York City Center, and will also perform “Memoria” next year. Throughout the certificate program, Fuka has also performed in works choreographed by Brandi Nicole and Ephrat Asherie. Fuka has attended Manhattan Ballet & Musical’s workshop, where educators such as Martha Graham company member Lloyd Knight and former ABT dancer Scott Schlepper taught. Additionally, she has a few choreographic projects she is working on which are focused on music video creations and videography. Fuka is passionate about creating her own unique stage, and strongly believes that dance has the power to move people.

Dancer
Hatsune Ishihara
Hatsune Ishihara Started dancing at the age of four, winning numerous awards, including national championships, through team activities from age seven to eighteen. Attended a dance academy for two years, studying various genres such as jazz, ballet, jazz funk, hip-hop, house, and contemporary. At twenty, pursued further dance education in the United States and graduated from The Ailey School last month.

Guest Artist Miho Ryu
Miho Ryu is a performing artist, choreographer, and educator, originally from Tokyo. She holds BA in Drama from Waseda University and received Best Dance Choreography Award from Oniros Film Awards® in 2018. Miho has choreographed and performed more than 100 works including of live performances, films, music videos, and interactive installations, across the continents: Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and the US. In addition to 20 years of experience in teaching technique classes in Japan, she has also held Choreography/Improvisation workshops at Wiz World Dance Festival in Korea, Asia Tri Jogja in Indonesia, Japan Athletic Federation. In 2024, she moved back to New York, the land where she studied dance from 2000-2004 and where she first encountered contemporary dance. She will continue to present works with her own project-based dance company, Physical Expression Research Group, and will collaborate with a variety of other cross-genre artists.

MY WAY
Dance Narrative Performance featuring Manatsu Aminaga.

As people get older, many people must ask themselves “Should I keep pursuing my dreams?
Or should I face my reality and quit dreaming?”
MAY WAY is a narrative dance performance seeking an answer to that complex question.

Masami Sakaide is Tokyo based composer, bassist, sound designer. He has performed across the continents as the bassist of Hicashew from 1982, and also plays experimental improvisation using iPad, laptop, and other devices. He has composed hundreds of songs for children's TV programs, commercial films, contemporary dance works and stage/video productions.
